I’m back……….

Well, hello everyone – it’s been a looooong while since I last wrote on our Roses2Go Blog – a little too embarassed to say how long exactly – but definitely been a while.  So today, I decided I will commit to writing at least one blog a week – surely, I can do that?  Please feel free to comment and make suggestions as to what you would like to read about  and I will do my best to meet  your requests.

Today I just wanted to share what has been going on here at Roses2Go  Florists and A Dozen Roses – The Rose Farm and basically get you all up to speed.  We’ve managed to survive a very busy Valentine’s Day on Thursday 14th February, 2013 – deemed to be the busiest day of all for this event.  The roses were stunning and our customers were as romantic as ever – so a solid effort all round.  Then, came Mother’s Day on 12th May, 2013 – this was our biggest ever and our roses did not let us down and were just sensational.  We also offered tulips, oriental lilies and an assortment of pot plants which were a hit this year.  We settled in for a cold winter which was comparatively mild this year to previous years here on the Central Coast – and we were very fortunate to have lovely sunny crisp days which was superb for the roses.   Roses love clear sunny warm days with good light hours for growth and the cooler nights are great for quality and head-size.

Therefore, all in all this growing season and year has been most kind to us – we hit the spring running with abnormally warm days and our roses have truly bloomed earlier this season – great for us and our customers.  So life is great, the weather is sensational and the roses are happy!  Happy roses = happy husband (for me especially – as my husband Wade is our hydroponic rose grower)  – things are looking up and we are preparing for a very busy summer with lots of beautiful roses. Until next time – have a rosey day!  This is me (Nicky Mann) in our 2nd greenhouse admiring a sunny rose bud of Sunking – a wonderful yellow rose bred by Meilland in France and grown by Roses2go in Australia.  Enjoy!

Channel 7’s Sydney Weekender Discovers Roses2Go & A Dozen Roses – The Rose Farm TOURS!

5:30pm on Saturday 28th August, 2010 – Sydney Weekender will be featuring Roses2Go Rose Farm Tours!  How exciting!  Well, at least for the Mann family and the team at Roses2Go & A Dozen Roses plus, our tried and trusted “rent-a-crowd” that were present for the filming of the feature to air this evening.  This is also a wonderful opportunity to represent our industry – floriculture in Australia as well as tourism especially for the Central Coast region.

We are rose growers based on the Central Coast of New South Wales, Australia – only 95kms from Sydney and just 7kms off the main F3 freeway between Sydney & Newcastle – so not too far off the beaten track.  We have diversified into rose farm tours as a great passive income but more importantly it is excellent PR for our beautiful long lasting roses and for the floriculture industry that is under extreme pressure due to imported flowers coming into Australia.  Tonight on Channel 7 – Roses2go features as a place to visit on the Central Coast so……..

So come to Rose2Go Rose Farm in Warnervale on the Central Coast of New South Wales and take a tour of our beautiful rose farm and see the fresh roses being picked and bunched before your eyes.  Roses2Go & A Dozen Roses – the rose farm in Warnervale; specializes in long stem, long lasting roses all grown using the latest environmentally-friendly cultivation techniques.  We grow 21 varieties of roses and have over 44,000 rose bushes under two 3000m2 greenhouses.  All the roses are cultivated hydroponically & you will experience our advanced farming practices – whereby all water is recycled and there are no toxic or harsh chemicals used for disease or pest control instead we have a highly complex bio-control program where we introduce predatory bugs into our roses to prey on the troublesome pests.  Tours are conducted of the rose farm by Wade Mann (our rose grower extraordinaire) and his wealth of knowledge and his passion for good quality roses shines through – it is truly interesting for everyone.

The tours have been described as “Magnificent!”; “Well worth a visit”; “Very informative and interesting tour”;  “A wondeful way to spend the morning!”

We can accommodate groups from as small as 6 people up to 75 people.  We can also offer morning or afternoon tea/coffee at $3 per person – this includes yummy muffins and cakes.  Booking is essential to avoid disappointment.  Tours can be undertaken any time of the year due to our production facility producing roses throughout the winter too – yes! beautiful roses 365 days of the year.  (However, we do not facilitate tours the week of Valentines Day or Mothers Day as this is a fully operational rose farm and we are too busy producing roses for the population of Australia:-))

Prices are $10 for Adults and $8 for pensioners; Children between 5 – 16 are $5 and children younger than 5 years old are FREE:-)

For more information check out our website:  www.roses2go.com.au or call us on (02) 4392 4155 and we can help with your booking, queries or can even send you a FREE full colour brochure on the rose farm tours.

So take time out to come and smell the roses at Roses2go & A Dozen Roses – The Rose Farm in Warnervale based at 105-155 (Lot 82A) Hakone Road, Woongarrah, NSW, 2259.

Roses2Go filmed by Channel 7 – WOW!

Well, what a week it has been – finalizing the opening of our new Roses2Go Florist shop in Killarney Vale ready to open on Thursday 1st July, 2010 AND……a visit from the film crew from Channel 7’s Sydney Weekender – WOW!  Yes, A Dozen Roses – The Rose Farm in Warnervale the supplier & grower of all our Roses2Go Florist Shop roses is going to feature in late August on the program – Sydney Weekender!  How exciting!

We are being promoted as a destination on the Central Coast of New South Wales to come & visit and do a fully guided tour of a state-0f-the-art greenhouse facility cultivating the most exquisite roses using the latest environmentally friendly growing techniques.

Well, what an experience the film shoot was and all our fantastic staff were just natural in front of the camera.  Wade Mann – our grower extraordinaire – was in his element sharing with the world his indepth knowledge of hydroponic rose production.

One of the amazing things that the crew commented on was that we still have gorgeous roses growing even though we are in the middle of winter and yet the greenhouses still looked spectacular with all the roses in bloom – can you just imagine what it would be like in Spring & Summer – OOOH YES!

The program focused on our environmentally friendly approach to producing our roses – the recycling of the water, the use of bio-controls & bio-rationals rather than HARSH TOXIC chemicals – and plus the BEAUTY of all the roses.  They showed our trusty “rent-a-crowd” being taken on a guided tour; the harvesting of the roses; the processing of the roses in the pack shed & coldroom – stocked with masses of roses and then, finished up in our retail outlet on the farm which was brimming with roses, arrangements, bouquets and bags of freshly made pot pourri – just AWESOME!  So hopefully it will come out brilliantly when it goes to air in late August!

So, this is just the beginning with the arrival of the other production crew in a couple of weeks starting “Wade’s World of Roses” documentary on hydroponic rose production.  Which will be a wonderful way for us to share our passion for the finest quality roses grown using the latest environmentally-friendly cultivation techniques and still being able to guarantee our roses will last 7 days in the vase.  So life is very full & exciting for the team at Roses2Go Florists & the Rose Farm in Warnervale.

So if you or anyone you know is a “rose lover” or “rose enthuiast” why don’t you book a tour of our hydroponic rose farm – it is really informative & interesting and will give you a huge insight to the life of a rose grower!
