Send in the sunshine!

Did you know that light has more effect on the growth and activity of roses than temperature!

Sunny Yellow Roses

Yes – well, in fact it does – no matter how good the temperature is if there is no light – there will be no photosynthesis and therefore no active feeding and growth.  That is why in the winter months here in Australia we really battle to keep the production of rose blooms at a steady level – the daylight hours are shorter and the quality of light especially on these miserable over-cast days is very poor – and thus the entire production cycle slows completely down.

Introducing artificial light would greatly assist the rose plant activity but the cost of electricity would have to be factored into the cost of production and the question to be asked would customers be prepared to pay inflated prices due to lighting costs?  To be honest, I think, they would – just to get the quality of roses that they are used to.

However, in the meantime – please send us some sunshine!  And if you would like to cheer someone up and give them a little sunshine in their lives why don’t you send them A DOZEN ROSES direct from the grower.  Check out our on line store   www.roses2go.com.au  and remember to have a ROSEY DAY!!!!!

$1.82 per litre of Diesel….OMG

Okay – so what’s the price of diesel got to do with ROSES?  Well, firstly let me explain – we grow all our roses hydroponically here on the farm in Warnervale – we only sell what we grow and therefore we have control of the quality & freshness at all times.  Yesterday – I was out delivering beautiful bouquets and baskets full of fresh roses…….when I had to fill up our delivery van – oh the joys! – I nearly freaked out at the price of diesel for a start and once again when I had to cough up the final bill.  Heavens! – how do businesses survive with rising costs?  Well, they incorporate it into their prices and increase their prices or lower the input costs of the goods.  Okay – you have probably guessed where this is going…….  a price increase?  Yes – to a point – but please hear me out – we have set prices for our roses and then a delivery cost……. clear and transparent!  However, a lot of other florists offer FREE delivery – well, that is a myth – someone has to pay for the fuel and I can tell you right now – YOU will be paying because although the delivery will be FREE? (yeah right!) you will get less flowers for your money!  So – with that in mind – please note you can always get the best quality roses at the best value for money prices right here at the rose farm in Warnervale or our outlet at Ourimbah – but if you want the roses delivered – there is a delivery charge and you know exactly what you are paying for…… what % is roses and what % is fuel!  I like to know what I am paying for and I am sure you do too……..

So with tight budgets and high fuel costs in mind remember you can ALWAYS afford beautiful fresh farm roses from A Dozen Roses because our roses don’t cost you an ARM and a LEG and your first born child……..  BUT ONLY  $18 per dozen for short stemmed roses; $22 per dozen for medium stemmed roses and $27 per dozen for premium quality long stemmed roses – collected directly from us the ROSE GROWER!  BUY FRESH – BUY DIRECT!!!!!!  Should you choose to have the roses delivered – it will cost you an extra $20!  Still the best value on the Central Coast for a dozen roses that last a week!  Remember your loved one is worth it and with the weekend upon us – wouldn’t it be lovely to have roses in the house!

Basket of Fresh Mixed Pink Roses

Have a rosey weekend!  I will chat to you tomorrow!  Yes – it’s Saturday but it’s the joys of being a rose grower – we work 7 days a week – the roses don’t know it’s the weekend and keep on blooming!!!!! (YIPPEEE!!!!)
